Are you meditating on a regular base? Or did you never try it, like me? You might want to after seeing the Bootcamp gallery for May. Pages and pages covered with people who try to concentrate on meditating, but have a little problem: They simply don´t like to meditate.
You still remember Lilla Rogers Bootcamp? We had cuckoo clocks in February, jelly in March, a break in April due to the running MATS courses. Bootcampers were back in May, curiously waiting for the next briefing. I was hoping that one of the five Bootcamp briefings would target the editorial market, as this is an area I need and want to grow my portfolio. And voilà!
Lilla chose an article by Grace Suh, a chineses medicine doctor, who knows about the advantages of meditation, but unfortunatly doesn´t enjoy it. I completly can connect with poor Grace, who has problems to stop her thoughts from flowing around, disturbing her from concentrating on mediation.
You might know that the first step in Lilla´s courses is to spend some time on the mini. Not knowing the briefing, just given a theme to doodle on. To give us a smooth start into people/faces illustration, Lilla recommended to start with dolls this month. I did lots of them as you can see on one of my sketch papers. Then, it was just a little step to “dive deeper” and “concentrate” on the subject matters.
I highly recommend visiting the Bootcamp gallery for this month. You will find fab illustrations. Some of my favorites: Antoana´Oreski´s Mr.Freud with his naughty little fish, Nelleke Verhoeff´s girl with a funny cat, Tara Lilly´s illustration sweet as a candy, Kelly Angelovic´s dreamy scene, Nicole LaRue´s funny besocked women, just to name a few.
See you on Monday in the next Bootcamp round. Maybe wall art? Or stationary? What´s your guess?

Vielleicht wall art? Oder Papeterie? Was meint Ihr?
