Into the forest …

mushrooms 1 by Petra Haemmerleinova

Last weekend I went into the forest with my mum to collect mushrooms. I already mentioned in a previous post, that I originate from a nation (czech), where collecting mushrooms belongs to the national sports. My mum could have broken legs, high fever, hungry kids could scream the place, it could rain cats and dogs, but if there was an even small chance that mushrooms are growing, she would put her boots on and go.

We were lucky enough to find some nice exemplars (yellow boletus, birch boletus, slippery jacks, blushers, lactarius delicious and some others). Stupid me, I forgot to take my camera, otherwise I could have shown you the most beautiful fly agaric. Next time. I´m sure it wasn´t the last excursion into the forest this season.

  1. Linda, thanks for stopping by. I love to read belletristic and I remember books about Italy mentioning people collecting mushrooms.
By the way, my Mum couldn´t let it go and went again today and she came back with a full basket.
    See you in MATS!

  2. lovely mushrooms and your illos are sooo wondrous – very cool! here in Italy, Sunday mornings a lot of folks go into the woods to collect mushrooms! I like to go watch since I know nothing about mushrooms besides eating – HAHA! thanks for sharing!
